Redline Appointed to NHBLI Board of External Experts

August 1, 2018

Susan Redline, MD, MPH, director of the Program in Sleep Medicine Epidemiology in the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School, was named a member of the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute’s (NHBLI) Board of External Experts (BEE) in recognition of her leadership in cardiovascular and sleep research.

The BEE is charged with providing input on NHBLI’s strategic research priorities and guidance on scientific opportunities that the NHLBI is poised to catalyze.

Redline conducts epidemiological research to understand the risks associated with untreated sleep apnea and the contribution of genetic risk factors to this disorder. She also conducts clinical trials to evaluate the role of sleep interventions on health. She leads a Sleep Reading Center for multicenter studies, and has developed web-based resources and tools that enable the exchange and analysis of sleep research data among biomedical researchers worldwide, as well as resources to support patient-researcher team science.

The NHLBI provides global leadership for a research, training, and education program to promote the prevention and treatment of heart, lung, and blood disorders and enhance the health of all individuals so that they can live longer and more fulfilling lives.
