Quan Receives Inaugural Award

Stuart F. Quan, MD, received the inaugural Stuart Quan Award for Editorial Excellence from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) in recognition of 10 years of service as founding editor of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. The AASM has also recognized Quan's foundational contributions to the journal by naming him editor emeritus.

The Stuart Quan Award for Editorial Excellence will be presented annually to a deserving associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.

As a past president of the AASM, serving from 1999 to 2000, Quan was appointed by the AASM board of directors as the founding editor of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine in 2004. He completed two consecutive five-year terms as editor in December 2014. Under Quan's leadership, the journal earned a position as one of the premier clinical and scientific publications in the sleep field.

Established in 1975, the AASM improves sleep health and promotes high-quality patient centered care through advocacy, education, strategic research and practice standards. With nearly 10,000 members, the AASM is the professional membership society for physicians, scientists and other health care providers in the medical subspecialty of sleep medicine. The monthly peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine is the official publication of the AASM.
