The Harvard Medical School Division of Sleep Medicine is pleased to announce the May 18, 2011 launch of “Apnea”, the third module in its Sleep and Health Education Program “Understanding Sleep” web sites. Building on the existing modules “Healthy Sleep” and “Get Sleep”, this new module focuses on obstructive sleep apnea and features a video highlighting Celtics player Mr. Shaquille O'Neal, a newly-diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea patient. The module contains extensive information on the symptoms, personal and societal impact, diagnosis and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea delivered through a mixture of text, graphics, video and user interactive media. It will provide useful information for patients, their families and any person interested in learning more about this important condition. The module can be accessed without charge at www.understandingsleep.org.

The launch of the “Apnea” module will be publicized on the morning of May 18, 2011, with a “radio tour” by Editor in Chief, Dr. Stuart Quan.
