NSBRI names new postdoctoral research fellows

February 17, 2011

The National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI) has announced four recipients of two-year postdoctoral fellowships to study and protect astronaut health. Among the recipients, Christopher J. Morris, PhD, from Brigham and Women's Hospital Division of Sleep Medicine will study the effects of sudden shifts in astronaut sleep/wake patterns on the cardiovascular system. The Institute's projects address many health issues in astronauts and may also impact the understanding and treatment of similar medical conditions experienced on Earth.

Applicants to the NSBRI fellowship program submit research project proposals for the opportunity to investigate health risks for astronauts or to develop technology needed to enable research or medical care in space. Applications are accepted annually.
