Gerald E. McGinnis Professorship of Sleep Medicine

October 25, 2006The new incumbent of the Gerald E. McGinnis Professorship of Sleep Medicine is expected to possess international stature as a leader in basic or clinical research in the fields of sleep science or sleep medicine, as evidenced by a distinguished record of original/research achievement, scholarly accomplishments, election to scholarly societies, leadership positions in related societies, service as editor or on the editorial boards of respected journals, and participation on committees and review boards. He or she should also have the ability to direct competitive basic or clinical research programs in sleep science or sleep medicine.
The Gerald E. McGinnis Professor of Sleep Medicine will also participate in the teaching activities of the Division of Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. These activities will include providing and supervising the teaching of basic and clinical circadian and sleep disorders medicine for undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, house staff and postgraduate physicians rotating through the Sleep Medicine Division. He or she will also instruct research and clinical fellows in the Division of Sleep Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital
